Basia Piela is a Romana’s Pilates Instructor Level V
For 2 years she was trained in the Hague, Holland, by Marjorie Oron, Jane Poerwoatmodjo and Sari Mejia Santo. Romana’s Pilates program is one of the most renowned and demanding instructors’ programs. The curriculum covers 1,000 hours of observation, private practice and coaching, preparing graduates to work at all levels and using all the apparatus. Training includes a number of theoretical and practical exams.
Basia turned to Pilates thanks to ballet, which is her great passion since a young age. Her passion towards body work and movement overcame her other interest, languages(she holds a linguistic Master's degree from the University of Warsaw). Even during her university studies, she was giving Barre Au Sol (ballet-inspired and stretching exercises executed on the floor) classes and workshops at the Warsaw Dance Studio. In 2013 she concluded a 100-hour Body Arts and Science International (BASI) Mat Work Teacher Training course in Paris, France, which was the foundation to her further training. At the same time, she discovered Romana’s Pilates method, which she embraced entirely. After five years from the first session, two years of intensive training in the Hague and several successfully passed assessments, she became Romana’s Pilates Teacher Level V. Basia worked at True Pilates Poland and MAÉ Health Institute before establishing Pure Pilates in June 2020.
The most inspiring aspect of Romana’s Pilates for me is the short amount of time in which the results of the exercises can be both seen and felt
"I am delighted by that moment, when somebody, finishing the training, feels physically and mentally much better than just an hour before. That is also the most gratifying feeling that my work can actually improve somebody’s health and quality of life."
